Genji's Sword - Google Site
Timeline: October 26, 2021 - December 9, 2021
INTRODUCTION
Fall 2021 of university, I enrolled in a makerspace course aiming to bridge my knowledge between software and hardware. For the final project, students were to pair up and engineer something that utilized the skills acquired throughout the semester. The professor advised teams to build a website to keep track of project progress but made it an optional assignment. Deciding it might be beneficial to log my experience, I created my first website which became an unexpectedly enjoyable process.
PROBLEM
While working on an engineering project, I needed a tool to track progress.
CONTRIBUTIONS
As an engineer, I programmed and integrated Arduino hardware into a custom-crafted sword, while as a web designer, I used Google Sites to track progress.
REFLECTION
Designing my first website was enjoyable but also occasionally frustrating. While Google Sites makes it more user-friendly to create a website by offering a free interface, I encountered challenges with sluggish widgets and limits on customization. Despite its constraints, Google Sites offered a streamlined approach to website creation and served its purpose of documenting my project's progress. This experience gave me a better understanding of how websites are created and put together.
